FAQs

What is physiotherapy?

Physiotherapists are highly qualified health professionals who work in partnership with their patients to help people get better and stay well.

Physiotherapists also work closely with GP's and other health clinicians to plan and manage treatment. GPs refer more patients to physiotherapists than any other healthcare profession.

Using advanced techniques and evidence-based care, physiotherapists assess, diagnose, treat and prevent a wide range of health conditions and movement disorders.
Physiotherapy helps repair damage, reduce stiffness and pain, increase mobility and improve quality of life.

Physiotherapy extends from health promotion to injury prevention, acute care, rehabilitation, maintenance of functional mobility, chronic disease management, patient and carer education and occupational health.

Who does it benefit & how often should I go?

All Australians can benefit from physiotherapy at some point in their lives. While it is well-known that physiotherapists treat injuries, increasing numbers of Australians are coming to physiotherapists when they want to take control of their health and stay well.

Frequency of attendance is completely determined by the individuals injuries/problems and goals. This will be a collaborative decision between yourself and your therapist.

This is entirely dependant on the individual and their individual response, injury and body part. Most clients report feeling  a small pinprick. Depending on the type of needle technique chosen by your therapist, you may also feel a muscle ache and a muscle twitch.

Does dry needling hurt?

Do I need a referral?

Please note however you may require a GP referral if there are particular claim circumstances such as the following;

  • Workers Compensation
  • Compulsory Third Party Insurance
  • Medicare Enhanced Primary Care Plan
  • You are a client of the Department of Veterans Affairs

Do I need to pay to go to the gym as well as my physiotherapy session?

No! If your physiotherapy session requires use of the gym, you are not required to pay for a day pass.

If you wish to attend the gym as a one off following your session Pursuit physiotherapy is happy to cover the cost of your day pass, please inform your therapist if this is the case.

If you wish to attend the gym on a regular basis Pursuit physiotherapy clients have access to a discounted monthly membership fee, just ask at reception or inform you therapist to have this arranged.

Day Pass usual cost $10

Do you accept Private Health Insurance?

If you have private health policy that includes Physiotherapy, a rebate can be claimed for our services. At Pursuit Physiotherapy we have a HICAPS terminal that allows you to instantly claim your rebate and we provide paperless transactions. As all health funds have different levels, we suggest you call your fund and ask them how much they will refund you for an initial physio visit and a subsequent physio visit.

Is there a cancellation policy?

Not attending an appointment is an inconvenience to the clinic, our other patients (we have a long list of people waiting to get an appointment at all times), and generally means you require more treatment to recover and we want you to get the best result possible. There is a $25 fee for all appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice.

If you wish to cancel your appointment please email us on admin@pursuitphysiotherapy.com or alternatively call or text us on 0452601632.

What if I need to see a physiotherapist outside of opening hours?

Pursuit physiotherapy offers urgent review outside of standard business hours. This can be at the clinic or at a location of your choosing. Cost of this service will be evaluated on case by case basis.

If you are unsure if you need to be reviewed immediately or if your case can wait until opening hours, please feel free to get in contact with us.

We also offer online Telehealth review, in the case that you require self-management advice.
